I have read this story before, but upon reading it again, of course, I cried “again.” It serves as an awesome example of the greatness in so many individuals, young and old. If we listened to the news, lived in a bubble and believed all the reporters, we would think all around us was bad and that people are in their essence bad. Oh no. This is not so. We are surrounded by many good people, who when the need arises, proudly and humbly make themselves known. Kindness is not rare nor is love for our fellowman. We just have to observe carefully, listen and allow ourselves to trust a little. Examples like these far outweigh all the negative cruelty in the world, and we must share them as you have so that we may remind others who have allowed themselves to grow bitter or discontent that all is good; all is great in God’s world. Shay found himself there that day, and I pray that this story and others like it inspire people to live lives of greatness. Thank you so much for sharing.
